Mother Charged in Toddler's Tragic Death

A 36-year-old mother, Faiza Hassan of Dudley, has been charged with the murder of her 17-month-old daughter. The tragic event unfolded in April 2023 when paramedics were called to an address in Dudley. The young girl was pronounced dead later that day.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that the toddler had sustained multiple injuries, which led to her death. Faiza Hassan also faces charges of child cruelty towards the deceased child and another child, as well as eight counts of wounding with intent. These offenses allegedly occurred between November 1, 2022, and April 9, 2023.
Additionally, Sahra Hassan, aged 61 and the mother of Faiza Hassan, has been accused of child cruelty and allowing the death of the toddler. She appeared in court alongside her daughter and was granted conditional bail.
Both Faiza Hassan and Sahra Hassan are due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court again on October 9. Faiza Hassan remains in custody.
