Sunshyne Davis, 25, was arrested on Wednesday, over a year after her 3-year-old son, Kyng Davis, was found deceased. His body was abandoned at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn on March 9, 2025. Prosecutors have charged Davis with murder, manslaughter, and child endangerment.
The medical examiner's ruling determined Kyng's death resulted from blunt force trauma, starvation, and dehydration. Davis pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. Her boyfriend, Robert White, 39, also faces murder charges for an earlier assault on the child.
White reportedly assaulted Kyng multiple times in late February 2025 for urinating on himself. The couple then abandoned Kyng's body at the hospital on March 9, 2025, fleeing the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
