Mother Arrested as Intense Search Continues for Missing 9-Year-Old Daughter
7 Nov
Summary
- Mother Ashlee Buzzard arrested on unrelated charges, not cooperating with investigators
- Daughter Melodee Buzzard, 9, went missing on Oct. 14, last seen with mother on Oct. 7
- Mother and daughter spotted on surveillance video, both wearing wigs, allegedly trying to avoid detection

On October 14, 2025, 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard was reported missing by a school official who flagged her "prolonged absence." Melodee's mother, Ashlee Buzzard, was last known to be with her daughter but has not been named a suspect in the case.
However, Ashlee was arrested on November 7, 2025, on charges of false imprisonment in a separate incident. Authorities have remained tight-lipped about the new case, but it appears to involve allegations that Ashlee once prevented a victim from leaving a location.
The arrest comes a day after the sheriff's office released security camera footage showing Melodee and Ashlee together on October 7, around the time the child disappeared. Investigators allege that Ashlee was wearing a wig during this encounter and later changed to a darker wig, likely in an attempt to avoid recognition during their travels.
Melodee was last seen on October 9, 2025, in the region between the Colorado-Utah border. Authorities believe Ashlee may have switched the license plate of the rental car they were in around October 8, further suggesting efforts to evade detection.
Despite Ashlee's arrest, she has not been named a person of interest or charged in connection with Melodee's disappearance. The search for the missing child continues, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
