In Morrisvale, West Virginia, a devastating case of child neglect has come to light, resulting in the death of 14-year-old Kyneddi Miller. Her mother, Julie A. Miller, admitted to charges of child death by neglect after her daughter was found in an "emaciated, skeletal state" within their home. Authorities discovered the tragic scene during a welfare check, with Kyneddi's body having remained undiscovered for days.
Miller had taken her daughter out of school during the COVID-19 pandemic, citing fears of virus transmission to her elderly parents. Although she claimed Kyneddi would be homeschooled, evidence suggests a pattern of severe abuse and starvation. The victim had reportedly not seen a doctor in four years and had minimal contact with the outside world.
Julie Miller is expected to receive a sentence of up to 15 years when she is formally sentenced in February 2026. The child's grandparents, Donna Stone and Jerry Stone, have also been charged. Jerry Stone has been deemed incompetent to stand trial, while Donna Stone's trial is scheduled for February 24, 2026.
