29 Jul
Summary
- Mother defended her child with a gas pump at a Shell station.
- Suspect Jerahn Tucker faces attempted kidnapping charges.
- Two witnesses assisted the mother during the confrontation.
A Georgia mother's rapid response prevented a child abduction attempt last week at a Shell gas station in Marietta. Surveillance footage captured Jerahn Tucker approaching the family's car and later returning, reportedly armed with a gun.
As Tucker interacted with the family's vehicle, the child exited and moved around the car. Tucker then opened a rear door where another child was seated. The mother stepped in, seizing a gas pump to push Tucker away, allowing her child to get back inside the car.
Two bystanders at the station assisted the mother during the alarming encounter. Marietta Police Public Information Officer Charles McPhilamy commended the mother and witnesses for their composure under pressure. Authorities apprehended Tucker shortly after he fled, finding a THC vape in his vehicle. He faces charges including attempted kidnapping and assault and is held in Cobb County Jail.
