25 Sep
Summary
- Mother sentenced to 4-6 years in prison.
- Son died after being left with siblings.
- She left her sick child to go to a bar.

Jennifer Prudencio, a 27-year-old mother from Massachusetts, has been sentenced to four to six years in prison followed by three years of probation. The sentence stems from the death of her three-year-old son, Yael Guardado-Prudencio, in April 2024. Prudencio pleaded guilty to manslaughter and three counts of reckless endangerment of a child.
Prosecutors stated that on the night of April 6, 2024, Yael was ill with symptoms including vomiting blood and appearing pale. Despite his condition, Prudencio left him in the care of his seven and eight-year-old siblings to go to a bar. She then spent the night at her boyfriend's home.
During the night, the eight-year-old sibling texted Prudencio expressing concern for the toddler and sent a video. Prudencio indicated she would return soon but remained out until approximately 10 a.m. the following Sunday, when she discovered her son had died. She is currently held at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution Framingham.
