Summary
- Mohammed Shami acquitted of bounced cheque charges by Alipore Court.
- The case involved a Rs 1 lakh cheque issued for household expenses in 2018.
- Shami continues to pay Rs 4 lakh monthly for maintenance to his wife and daughter.

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been acquitted of charges related to a bounced cheque worth Rs 1 lakh. The Alipore Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court dismissed the case filed by his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, ruling that the allegations could not be proven after four years of proceedings.
Shami, who appeared in court on Wednesday, expressed confidence in the verdict, stating he had done nothing wrong and paid all required dues. This acquittal offers significant legal relief amidst ongoing personal and legal disputes that have kept him in headlines.
However, the legal battle concerning maintenance and alimony payments remains active. Following Calcutta High Court directives, Shami currently disburses Rs 4 lakh monthly – Rs 1.5 lakh to Jahan and Rs 2.5 lakh for their daughter's care. Jahan has challenged this amount, taking the matter to the Supreme Court.
