4 Sep
Summary
- A 33-year-old model was found dead months after her wedding.
- Her husband and mother-in-law face abetment charges.
- Dowry death allegations surface amid ongoing investigation.

Model Twisha Sharma, 33, was found dead on May 12 in Bhopal, India, several months after her December 2025 marriage to Samarth Singh. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged Singh and his mother, Giribala Singh, with abetment to suicide and cruelty.
The CBI's investigation indicated that Samarth, a lawyer, subjected Sharma to mental cruelty and derogatory language. Retired judge Giribala Singh allegedly "instigated her son" to commit such acts. Investigators concluded that continuous mistreatment left Sharma with no other option but to take her own life.
Sharma's family claims she was tortured over dowry demands and that conflicts arose after her April pregnancy. They allege the couple accused her of cheating and forced an abortion in May. However, Giribala Singh denies these claims, stating Sharma desired the abortion, and has alleged Sharma struggled with drug addiction.
Initial autopsy findings showed Sharma died by suicide with no signs of struggle. Sharma, a former Miss Pune, also appeared in a Telugu film. Dowry is banned in India, yet remains prevalent, with 5,737 dowry-related deaths recorded in 2024.
