A Blue Alert, similar to an Amber Alert, was issued for the suspect. These alerts are designed for rapid public notification when a law enforcement officer is believed to have been seriously injured or killed and may pose an ongoing threat. The alert was cancelled Tuesday morning once the suspect was safely in custody.
