Vitoria Figueiredo Barreto, a 30-year-old psychologist, has been missing since March 3rd after staying with a friend in Southend, Essex. Recently released CCTV footage captures her boarding the 87 bus on Boundary Road shortly after 1 PM, heading towards Brightlingsea.
Ms. Figueiredo Barreto disembarked the bus in an unfamiliar area of Brightlingsea. Approximately an hour and a half later, doorbell camera footage showed her in the Hurst Green area. A week after her disappearance, her tote bag, bearing the slogan 'people over profit,' was found near a boat yard in Brightlingsea.
Further CCTV may show an individual near where the bag was discovered. Police are providing support to her family. The last known individuals to speak with Vitoria were a couple walking their dog, who reported she approached them and introduced herself.
Her friend, Liliane Silva, described Vitoria as unusually quiet and contemplative on the day she went missing. Vitoria's phone reportedly activated its emergency mode, sending a signal location that pointed towards the sea, adding to the mystery surrounding her whereabouts.
Essex Police are conducting extensive searches in Brightlingsea, utilizing foot officers, air support, specialist dogs, and volunteers. Authorities urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to come forward and check any available CCTV footage.
