A Bangladeshi photographer, Syed Abdullah Johi, has been missing from Kolkata for approximately one month. He had arrived in the city on February 10 with his wife, Masrufa Tasmin, for IVF treatment. Johi disappeared on March 11 after leaving their residence to smoke, and has not been seen since.
His wife reported him missing at Baguiati Police Station on March 11, but investigations have yielded no clues. Johi's mobile phone was found on a parked two-wheeler nearby, but this has not aided in locating him. His wife returned to Bangladesh on March 22, leaving his passport with a liaison.
Family members are planning to travel to Kolkata to bolster the search efforts and distribute missing person posters. Johi's mother mentioned he had been depressed over not having children and suffered from mental illness. The incident is described as bizarre by those assisting the couple.
