12 Dec
Summary
- Skeletal remains found in an abandoned Ohio home's garage.
- Discoverers initially thought remains were animal before spotting skull.
- Missing person identified as Dustin R. Engler, last seen in Feb. 2023.

Skeletal remains unearthed in the detached garage of an abandoned Ohio residence have been identified as belonging to Dustin R. Engler, a man reported missing almost three years prior. The discovery was made by three individuals exploring the property who, after initially believing the bones to be from an animal, alerted authorities upon finding a skull.
The scene, described as a garage filled with trash and a large tarp-wrapped bundle, led to a wider investigation that initially yielded no other suspicious findings in the house or nearby barns. The property itself appeared to have been abandoned for a considerable duration.
Following the recovery of the remains, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office contacted local authorities regarding an open missing persons case. Dental records were instrumental in positively identifying the remains as Engler, aged 43, who was last seen in February 2023. The investigation into his cause of death is ongoing.
