Summary
- Nancy Guthrie's alleged kidnappers demanded $6 million in bitcoin.
- She was last seen January 31, after dinner with her daughter.
- President Trump offered federal law enforcement assistance.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today cohost Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over a week. Her alleged captors have demanded a $6 million ransom in bitcoin, according to a local news station that reportedly received one of the ransom notes. The notes specified the payment was due before Monday.
Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31, after having dinner with her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni. Tommaso stated he dropped her off at her Catalina Foothills home around 9:48 p.m. She was reported missing the following morning when she did not appear at church.
Her disappearance is being actively investigated as a crime by the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that while they hope for a search and rescue, they are also proceeding with the investigation as a potential crime.
In a public plea shared on Instagram on February 7, Nancy's children, including Savannah, addressed the alleged kidnappers directly. They expressed understanding of the message and begged for their mother's safe return, stating their willingness to pay.
President Donald Trump has offered the full disposal of federal law enforcement resources to assist the Guthrie family in locating Nancy. Speaking on February 6, he expressed confidence that answers were forthcoming, suggesting strong clues were being pursued by the DOJ or FBI.
One retired FBI agent theorized the disappearance might stem from a personal grievance rather than being directly related to Savannah's public profile, noting the ransom notes lacked specific references to her.
