On Saturday, October 21st, 2025, a devastating incident unfolded in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. A 26-year-old woman allegedly killed her two young sons, aged 4 years and 14 months, before taking her own life.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 8 PM when the woman's husband and mother-in-law were away from the house. When the elderly woman returned home, she found the house locked from the inside. After repeated knocks went unanswered, she called the neighbors, who broke open the door.
Inside, the neighbors discovered the lifeless bodies of the woman and her two sons. Eyewitnesses reported that the boys had cloth stuffed in their mouths and bore strangulation marks on their necks. The woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
The woman's husband rushed home upon receiving the news and fainted at the sight of the bodies. The police have sealed the house for forensic examination, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the woman had returned from her parental home just the previous day. Her husband claimed that she had recently started believing in exorcism and supernatural practices, and they had even taken her to Azamgarh for faith healing.
The authorities, including the Mirzapur SSP Somen Barma and the Sadar Circle Officer Amar Bahadur, have visited the scene and are awaiting the post-mortem and forensic reports to determine the exact cause of the tragic incident.
