Two minors were arrested in San Francisco on September 3rd, shortly before 4 a.m. local time, after they were found in possession of a ghost gun within a Waymo autonomous vehicle. Police conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and apprehended the pair. The seized weapon was an AR-style assault rifle, identified as a ghost gun due to its lack of a serial number, making it untraceable. Suspected marijuana and mace spray were also discovered by officers.
Reports indicate that Waymo employees detected a violation of their terms of service concerning the firearm. The company subsequently pulled the vehicle over and alerted authorities. This is not the first time Waymo has reported passenger behavior to law enforcement. In July, Waymo previously alerted police to two teenagers in a vehicle who were reportedly drinking and discharging Orbeez water beads.
