Her pregnancy had gone undetected, raising serious concerns about the safety and health monitoring protocols at residential hostels for rural and tribal girls. Investigations revealed significant oversights, including the failure to notice the student's declining health indicators.
The girl's mother and the hostel warden reportedly did not notice the signs of pregnancy. The warden stated the student returned home during April vacations, where the incident is believed to have occurred. Despite visible changes, no suspicion was raised according to investigators.
In response to the negligence, the hostel superintendent, Chainbati Saiyam, was suspended. An order cited her alleged lack of concern for the student's deteriorating health and failure to arrange medical examinations or contact parents about her absences. Legal proceedings have commenced following a police report.
