Jennifer Symonds, a 44-year-old former Microsoft executive, was discovered drowned on March 6, 2026, near the Phyllis Court Club in Henley-on-Thames. Her body was found by the River Thames.
Symonds was last seen on the evening of March 5, 2026, visiting a restaurant in Henley. She had also met a friend for drinks earlier that evening.
Nelio Gouveia, 44, who reportedly worked as a kitchen porter at the club, has been arrested and charged with Symonds' murder. He appeared in Oxford Crown Court on March 10, 2026.
A trial date has been set for September 1, 2026. Symonds had recently been made redundant from Microsoft in January 2025 and friends described her as struggling with job seeking and mental health.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as drowning. Police stated they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation.
