Summary
- A mother pleaded no contest to child abuse charges.
- Three children lived alone in squalor since 2020-2021.
- Police found the children in a home with extreme unsanitary conditions.

In Pontiac, Michigan, a woman has entered a no contest plea for child abuse. Kelli Bryant, 35, faces a six-year prison sentence as part of an agreement with authorities. She is accused of leaving three children, aged 15, 13, and 12, to survive on their own in appalling conditions.
The children had reportedly been living unsupervised in a squalid house since approximately 2020 or 2021. Their living situation was only discovered in February 2025 when law enforcement was alerted to the conditions. Police evidence specialists required hazmat suits to enter the property due to the extreme unsanitary state, which included trash and feces.
Bryant, who was residing elsewhere in Pontiac, is scheduled for sentencing in September. Prosecutors stated this plea aims to prevent the children from testifying and ensure Bryant's incarceration until they reach adulthood. The children's father had lost contact while in prison and was later barred from seeing them by their mother.
