In Southwest Miami-Dade, a fatal shooting occurred at a Sunoco gas station earlier this month, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Angel Tatiana Heyward. The incident, which took place on March 1, involved an altercation between Heyward and 42-year-old Latrosha Williams. Surveillance footage showed Williams approaching Heyward's car, leading to an argument in the parking lot.
During the dispute, Heyward retrieved a gun from her purse. After a witness intervened, Heyward briefly went inside the store, but Williams continued to provoke her outside. When Williams approached aggressively, Heyward again produced the gun. A struggle ensued, during which Heyward fired twice, fatally wounding Williams.
Following the shooting, Heyward dropped the gun and, in an attempt to hide it, accidentally shot herself in the foot. She then removed the license plate from her car before fleeing the scene at high speed. Heyward later arrived at Homestead Hospital with her self-inflicted wound, and her vehicle was found in the hospital parking lot.
After being treated and discharged, Heyward was taken into custody by the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. She has since been charged with manslaughter with a deadly weapon in connection with Latrosha Williams' death.
