Merseyside Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 54-year-old man who was attacked inside the Village Chippy on Leach Croft, Stockbridge Village. The man sustained a head injury during the incident on Friday night.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the precise cause of death. Authorities have arrested a 25-year-old local man in connection with the assault.
He was taken into custody on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. However, the suspect has since been released on conditional bail. Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings urged anyone with information, particularly those present in the shop at the time of the attack, to contact the police. The investigation is ongoing, and the family of the victim has been informed.
