A care worker at St Andrew's Hospital in Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of raping a patient. The initial arrests were made on suspicion of wilful neglect and ill-treatment concerning alleged assaults against a patient in July 2025.
Northamptonshire Police confirmed the rape allegation, stating the suspect has been released on bail. The investigation into all eight workers is ongoing. St Andrew's Hospital is also facing a separate inquiry into a patient's death in February 2025, which led to arrests for corporate and gross negligence manslaughter.
Five individuals were arrested in connection with the February 2025 death. Four have been released without further action, while one remains on bail for wilful neglect. A prior corporate manslaughter investigation into a teenager's death in October 2024 concluded with no further action taken.
