A shocking incident unfolded in Melbourne's Hawthorn suburb on a Monday evening when a shirtless man allegedly drove erratically, crashing his Jeep into four vehicles during busy peak-hour traffic. The man's destructive spree continued after his car became inoperable.
He then reportedly attempted to carjack two different drivers. The first victim was allegedly assaulted as the man tried to take his keys. He then targeted a woman, attempting to pull her from her car before locals intervened.
Several tradespeople nearby swiftly acted, subduing the alleged carjacker and restraining him with a rope. Police arrived shortly after to take custody of the man, who was subsequently taken to the hospital under guard. He faces charges including attempted carjacking and reckless endangerment.
