A 13-year-old girl from Melbourne's Bayside area was arrested on Tuesday following a series of alleged crimes involving stolen vehicles. Victoria Police reported that on Saturday afternoon, the girl was allegedly driving a stolen Hyundai sedan which swerved at a group of Jewish men in St Kilda East. Witnesses claimed occupants of the car also threw eggs and yelled anti-Semitic slurs. The car had been seen driving erratically in Hampton, Ripponlea, and Caulfield areas. The alleged offenses escalated on Monday evening when a male cyclist was struck by a stolen silver SUV in St Kilda. Investigators will also allege a group of teenagers rammed two e-scooter riders in Elwood.
The 13-year-old girl was apprehended along with two other teenagers after police used stop sticks to halt a stolen Volkswagen Golf in East Malvern. She faces 52 charges, including reckless conduct endangering serious injury and offenses related to hate-based behavior. The other two teenagers were charged with theft and handling stolen goods. Investigations into the alleged crime spree are ongoing, with police emphasizing their intolerance for hate-based behavior.
