Meerut Murder Accused's Family Flees City After Months of Social Boycott

In March 2025, Muskan Rastogi, a 28-year-old woman, was accused of brutally killing her husband and hiding the remains in a sealed, cement-filled blue drum at their Meerut home. Her lover, Sahil Shukla, helped her in the crime. Both are now lodged in Meerut jail.
Since the incident, Muskan's family has faced severe social boycott from the local community. They were shunned during festivals, and no one visits their home anymore. Muskan's father, Pramod Rastogi, says the family no longer wishes to stay in Meerut, as they have "painful memories" there. The family's jewelry business also collapsed, and Muskan's sister lost her income from tuitions, as parents refuse to send their children to their home.
Locals claim the family has been "behaving weirdly" since the March incident, with Pramod even beating stray dogs for no reason. The community has stopped talking to them out of fear of being included in the police investigation. The family has now reportedly pasted a 'house for sale' notice on their residence in Indira Nagar, Brahmpuri, and plans to leave the city where they lived for years.
