Matthias Schoenaerts, known for his role in "Rust and Bone," has been sentenced to a six-month prison term by the Limburg Police Court in Beringen, Belgium. This conviction stems from multiple instances of driving without a valid license. The court found him guilty of offenses committed between April 5 and April 21, 2024, noting aggravating circumstances due to prior serious traffic violations.
Further investigation revealed that Schoenaerts had been disqualified from driving since September 2021, failing to complete necessary exams. His license has been held by the court since January 2023. He was also recently detained for allegedly driving without a license and refusing a breathalyzer test.
In addition to the prison sentence, the actor must undergo remedial medical and psychological exams and pay a fine of 4,000 euros. A one-year driving ban has also been imposed. Despite the sentence, court officials indicated that actual prison time is highly improbable.
