Andhra Police Seize 275 Kg of Ganja Worth $16,000 in Bust

On October 12, 2025, the Andhra Pradesh police in Anakapalli district carried out a major operation, seizing 275 kilograms of ganja worth $16,000. The contraband was being transported in a TATA CURVV car via the Munchangiputtu-Paderu-12th Mile Stone-Konam route towards Chodavaram when the police intercepted the vehicle around 4 pm.
Three accused, Bisoi Mohan Babu (28), Bissai Vijay Kumar (23), and Vanthala Venkata Rao alias Buddu (21), were arrested at the scene. Police said they acted as pilots for the transportation of the ganja. The trio was produced before the court and remanded on October 13.
However, three others, including the main supplier Vanthala Devadas from Odisha, recipient Chandrabhan Bishnoi from Rajasthan, and car driver Kocham Surendra alias Guru, are currently absconding. Authorities revealed that Devadas sourced the ganja from the Chitrakonda area of Odisha, while Bishnoi was the intended recipient in Jodhpur.
The police seized the 275 kg of ganja packed in eight bags, the TATA CURVV car (AP40 FG 5612), two Pulsar bikes, and four Android phones. The case has been registered under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
