A disturbing video has emerged showing a brutal assault at a Maryland bus stop, where a group of middle school students attacked a defenseless peer. The incident, which occurred on April 20, involved at least six assailants, mostly girls, who kicked and stomped on the victim while they were on the ground. Authorities have charged five juveniles with second-degree assault in connection with the fight. Two other individuals involved could not be charged due to being under 13 years old. The police department confirmed efforts are underway to notify the parents of those involved, although no students were taken into custody.
Retired law enforcement officials expressed concern over the boldness of the juveniles, citing perceived leniency in the legal system towards minors. The indifference of the attackers and the presence of numerous bystanders, some of whom were laughing, have drawn widespread condemnation.
