Manslaughter Charge After Fatal Psychedelic Ritual
5 Mar
Summary
- Operator charged with manslaughter over 2021 death at wellness retreat.
- Victim died from perforated esophagus after consuming ayahuasca and kambo.
- Operator accused of delaying medical treatment for the victim.

Soulore Solaris, 52, has been charged with manslaughter, over four years after a ritualistic ceremony resulted in a man's death. The incident occurred in 2021 at the Arcoora retreat in Collins Creek, New South Wales.
Jarrad Antonovich, 47, died from a perforated esophagus after consuming the psychedelic ayahuasca and kambo, a substance derived from a giant tree frog. Police allege Solaris provided the ayahuasca and subsequently delayed seeking medical attention for Antonovich after he collapsed.
Kambo is classified as a Schedule 10 poison by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and was banned two weeks prior to Antonovich's death. Ayahuasca was banned in 2022. While adherents believe these substances offer detoxification, some medical experts express skepticism about their efficacy beyond causing severe illness.
Solaris, formerly known as Peter George McIntyre, is currently banned from providing health services to the public. He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Lismore Local Court on March 30. Antonovich's family has called for similar ceremonies to be prohibited.
