Columbus police are seeking Michael Magyer, 41, identified as 'Machete Mike,' in connection with an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday afternoon. The incident began around 12:30 p.m. when authorities received a 911 call reporting an assault at a homeless encampment in the 3000 block of Cotton Mill Street. Callers indicated the suspect possessed a firearm.
Upon arrival at the encampment, officers encountered the female victim and Magyer, who allegedly brandished a gun and pointed it at the woman. Gunfire ensued between Magyer and the officers. He then fled into a wooded area, reportedly firing additional shots while escaping with the weapon.
