Haryana Police Deny Manchanda Case Lapses
18 Sep
Summary
- Police deny procedural errors in Yuvraj Manchanda's case.
- Autopsy confirms drowning as cause of death; no gunshot.
- Family questions timeline of police records and remains.

Haryana Police have addressed allegations of procedural oversights in the investigation of Yuvraj Manchanda's death. The family of the 31-year-old executive had raised concerns regarding the chronology of police entries, specifically the Zipnet system, which appeared to indicate a delay in recording the body's discovery and subsequent cremation. Police officials clarified that Zipnet is not the primary database for unidentified bodies and that all details were uploaded to the CCTNS system within the mandated timeframe.
The autopsy report, released recently, has determined that drowning was the cause of Manchanda's death. Investigators stated there were no indications of a gunshot, disputing earlier claims. The body was found in a decomposed state, suggesting it had been in water for several days, which complicated the handling process. Police also noted they had not received any formal missing person notification from Delhi Police prior to the cremation.
Further complicating matters, Manchanda's family alleged they had not received his remains or personal belongings. Police, however, asserted that all preserved ashes and belongings were being held and that the family had been duly informed. DNA samples have also been preserved as part of the ongoing investigation, which is being conducted by Delhi Police.
