19 Jan
Summary
- A Fulton County Superior Court error led to a man's wrongful imprisonment.
- The man was jailed for eight days due to a wrongly issued court warrant.
- Legal efforts to correct the error were delayed, prolonging the incarceration.

A clerical error at Fulton County Superior Court led to an innocent man, Larry Armstrong, being wrongfully incarcerated for eight days. The incident began on January 8th when Armstrong attended a court date. While traveling home to Memphis, he was stopped in Alabama and informed of an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.
Despite his attorney immediately filing a motion on January 9th to recall the erroneous warrant, stating Armstrong had not missed any court dates, the release order was significantly delayed. Legal representatives noted that by January 11th, the order had still not been signed, a situation that persisted even after contacting the judge's office.
The order to set aside the warrant was finally signed and stamped late on January 11th. However, Armstrong remained in jail for an additional 28 hours before his release. His attorney is investigating why the warrant was issued and the subsequent prolonged delay in his release, which caused financial losses and significant distress.
