A man in Minneapolis, Akhil Miryala, faces burglary and stalking charges following the alleged dognapping of a three-legged canine. Miryala, 27, reportedly met a woman through a dating app in February and went on two dates. After the woman ended the relationship, Miryala allegedly began a campaign of harassment, bombarding her with calls and messages.
On March 9, the woman reported a home invasion and theft of her dog, a coon hound-labrador mix named Oriana. Doorbell camera footage captured Miryala attempting to lure the dog with food. While police were present, he admitted to taking Oriana, claiming he sought to return the dog to mend their relationship. He also confessed to extensive digital harassment.
Oriana has since been safely returned to her owner and was unharmed. Miryala's court appearance is scheduled for March 19, where he is expected to enter pleas to the felony charges.
