In Vasai, authorities apprehended a 45-year-old man, Shivshankar Vishwakarma, in his Mumbra residence on Saturday. He is accused of firing shots at his sister following a dispute over money she had provided for his bail. The sister had reportedly demanded repayment of the funds she spent.
During the search of Vishwakarma's Mumbra home, law enforcement discovered a significant cache of weapons. Alongside the gun believed to have been used in the assault, officers found a live hand-grenade and five additional live rounds of ammunition. This discovery escalated the severity of the charges against him.
Vishwakarma has a prior criminal record, having been incarcerated in 2018 for the murder of his wife. He was subsequently booked at the Waliv police station under charges of attempted murder and violations of the arms act. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
