Man Pleads Guilty to Choking FC Cincinnati Fan to Death

On October 4, 2023, a violent altercation occurred outside an FC Cincinnati soccer game, resulting in the death of a 48-year-old man. According to the police report, the incident began when a woman was driving the wrong way down a one-way street near the stadium. When the victim, Jason McKinnon, and the woman he was with confronted the driver, a fight broke out.
Prosecutors state that Lavontez Davis, 26, then exited the vehicle and grabbed McKinnon around the neck, choking him. McKinnon was found injured on the sidewalk and later died at the hospital four days later. The coroner's office ruled his death a homicide.
In a recent development, Davis has now pleaded guilty to one count each of strangulation and involuntary manslaughter. This plea deal comes nearly two years after the tragic incident that took place outside the FC Cincinnati stadium in 2023.
