In Swasti Nagar, under the Airfield police station's jurisdiction, a fatal incident occurred on Wednesday morning. Priyambada Sarangi, aged 54, was allegedly killed by her 62-year-old husband, Debraj Sarangi.
The accused, Debraj, is reportedly suffering from multiple health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney ailments. These conditions have led to significant mental stress, with police noting he had previously contemplated suicidal thoughts and leaving home.
According to an investigating officer, the couple had experienced disputes attributed to Debraj's health struggles. Following a heated argument on Wednesday morning, Debraj allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab his wife. He subsequently surrendered at the police station.
The accused has been arrested and has been produced before the court. The couple's daughter, who filed the police complaint, stated her father had given her ornaments and money earlier that day and was unaware of the incident until contacted by the police.
