Roommate Beaten to Death Over 'Fatso' Insult

A fatal altercation occurred on December 31, 2025, when a 70-year-old man was beaten to death by his roommate, Brandon Rose, 49, in Minnesota. The violence erupted after the victim reportedly called Rose's girlfriend a "fatso" and giggled. Rose allegedly responded to the insult by texting his girlfriend that anyone who would call another human a fatso while giggling "is not a human."
Following the beating, Rose is accused of hiding his roommate's body beneath a pile of laundry. He then allegedly attempted suicide by injecting himself with methylene blue, a synthetic dye, and was found unconscious with a needle in his arm. Rose later claimed to first responders that the victim had sexually propositioned him prior to the incident.
Authorities have charged Rose with second-degree murder. The autopsy revealed the victim suffered numerous fractures and severe brain bleeding. Rose is currently being held without bond, and his arraignment date is yet to be determined.
