A man has been arrested in Gurugram for allegedly setting his lover ablaze following a dispute that arose when she discovered he was married. The victim, 23-year-old Divya Kataria, was brought to Artemis Hospital on June 19 with severe burn injuries. She was later transferred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where she succumbed to her injuries on June 27.
Following her death, the victim's cousin, Vikas, lodged a complaint on June 30, naming Sunil Kumar as the perpetrator. Kumar, 35, was arrested on Wednesday and sent to two-day police custody. Investigations revealed that an argument ensued on June 18 when Kataria visited Kumar's gold-buying shop and learned of his marriage. The dispute continued the next morning, leading Kumar to set her on fire. He subsequently transported her to the hospital.
