A man named Mukaish received a prison sentence of eight years and three months on Tuesday for a rape conviction. The court detailed that the victim was attacked over the bonnet of a car in a car park adjacent to a hospital, a location she had just departed.
She was discovered by a member of the public and subsequently identified Mukaish and his vehicle to the police, who found hand and fingerprints. Judge Christine Henson KC highlighted the victim's extreme vulnerability during the assault by a stranger and noted the immense psychological repercussions.
Mukaish, who was in the UK on a student visa with his leave to remain valid until 2028, had studied computer science. His defence claimed he believed he was assisting the woman, but he admitted the victim lacked the capacity to consent to his actions.
