Brute Caged for Horrific Girlfriend Abuse

Steven Farrell, aged 50, has been imprisoned for over three years following a severe campaign of domestic abuse against his girlfriend. The abuse began in October 2024 and involved controlling behavior, physical violence, and extreme humiliation. Farrell, described as pathologically jealous, would physically harm his partner, gagging her and threatening her life.

During one incident, Farrell placed a plastic bag over the victim's head and threatened to kill her. He also forced a bag of dog faeces into her mouth, causing it to split. The court heard that Farrell used a knife to threaten her, punched and kicked her, and even strangled her dog. He confessed to controlling and coercive behavior, suffocation, and actual bodily harm.

Farrell's actions have left his victim with lasting psychological trauma, including PTSD, sleep difficulties, and debilitating flashbacks. She has expressed that the abuse will have an emotional impact for the rest of her life. The judge deemed Farrell a dangerous offender, sentencing him to three years and five months in prison, followed by a year of extended license to protect the public.
