Glass Attack Leaves Man Needing Stitches

A man sustained severe facial injuries, including a deep chin laceration requiring ten stitches and wounds to his nose and lip, following an incident at a hen party approximately 18 months ago. The victim reported a significant impact on his physical and mental health, stating he lost confidence and is self-conscious about his appearance.

The accused, who has shared care for her three children and works part-time in the NHS, initially claimed she only intended to pour a drink on the victim. However, prosecutors rejected this defense. She later came forward to the police after becoming aware of a social media appeal regarding the attack.

During sentencing, the judge noted that the victim's playful tapping with an inflatable golf club irritated the woman. He emphasized that she lashed out while still holding a glass, highlighting the dangers of violence involving glassware. The judge sentenced her on the basis that she did not intend to cause such severe injuries and was unaware of the extent of the harm at the time.
