A Geismar man, Reggie Holland, 56, has been convicted by an Ascension Parish jury on multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder, second-degree sexual battery, and false imprisonment while armed with a dangerous weapon. The verdict came after a trial detailing the violent assault of his girlfriend.
Deputies responded to a domestic violence call on February 8, 2024, and found the victim severely beaten and injured. Evidence presented indicated Holland battered her with objects, including a lamp and a wrench, throughout the night. He used a wrench to prevent her escape.
The victim eventually escaped the ordeal and sought help at a nearby business. Holland faces potential decades in prison, with his sentencing tentatively scheduled for August 18. Assistant District Attorney Leila Braswell prosecuted the case, presided over by Judge Keyojuan Turner.
