A 25-year-old man from Gaya district was found dead near railway tracks in Nalanda on Sunday, with his family alleging foul play. Neeraj Kumar, who was married to a woman from Devdha village, was reportedly called to his in-laws' house for his wife's promised 'vidai'.
His family claims Neeraj was assaulted by his brother-in-law, father-in-law, and others at the in-laws' residence before being abandoned near Tungi Halt. Neeraj managed to call his family the following morning, indicating something had happened to him before his phone was switched off.
Police recovered Kumar's body near Tungi Halt and sent it for a post-mortem examination. A significant head injury was observed, but authorities are awaiting the full report to ascertain the cause of death. While the family has pointed fingers at the in-laws, Neeraj's brother-in-law has denied the allegations, stating he learned of the incident later. Police have stated that further action will be taken once a written complaint is filed.
