Fat-Shaming Tirade Lands Man with £100 Bill
5 Dec
Summary
- Man fined £100 for calling a mother 'fat' during an argument.
- He also caused criminal damage to a neighbour's outdoor light.
- A restraining order prevents further contact with the victim.

A man's verbal assault, which included calling a mother-of-two 'fat', has resulted in a £100 compensation bill. Aaron Quinn, 33, was found to have caused Sarah Allen significant distress with his derogatory comments about her weight. The incident escalated following an earlier confrontation with another neighbour, during which Quinn also damaged an outdoor light.
At Warrington Magistrates' Court, Quinn admitted to using insulting words and causing criminal damage. In addition to the compensation, he was fined £80 and given a 12-month restraining order, forbidding any contact with Ms Allen. Prosecutors highlighted the fat-shaming comments as a sustained verbal attack.
Quinn's defence attributed his actions to chronic insomnia and recent bereavement following his mother's death. Despite these mitigating factors, the court prioritized compensation for Ms Allen. Quinn has since moved to a different area of Warrington.
