In a significant development, a 35-year-old man has been charged with murder following a death in Surrey last year. The charges stem from an incident on January 16, 2025, when Surrey Police responded to a safety concern at Imtech House in Ashford.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 27-year-old woman and a young child suffering from very serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman, identified as Laleh Zarejouneghani, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death was later determined to be a stab wound to the neck.
The young child, who was also injured, was transported to the hospital and has since been discharged. Milad Ghafari, a dual British-Iranian national, was initially arrested on the day of the incident. He has now been formally charged with murder, attempted murder, and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. Ghafari is scheduled to appear in court.
