Manslaughter Charge After Fatal Drug Supply

Police in St. Thomas have charged a 46-year-old man with manslaughter following the death of a woman late last month. Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at an unspecified downtown St. Thomas address on May 30. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the 46-year-old as a suspect and subsequently arrested him in Aylmer on Monday. Court documents indicate the man is of no fixed address and has also been charged with trafficking a Schedule 1 substance, specifically fentanyl. The substance leading to the woman's death has not been publicly identified by police.
The accused appeared in court on Tuesday and has been remanded into custody. He is scheduled for another court appearance on June 12.
