A Los Angeles man, Ruben Fregosojuarez, has been charged with murder and child abuse in connection with the death of his girlfriend and the abduction of their 5-year-old daughter, Daleza. The LAPD reported that Fregosojuarez allegedly killed his partner on Monday, May 25, 2026, and then fled to Mexico with their child.
An AMBER alert was issued for Daleza after she was last seen with her father on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in the Los Angeles area. Surveillance footage suggested they were near the U.S.-Mexico border. Fregosojuarez's vehicle was found at the San Ysidro Point of Entry, but the pair were not located.
Authorities stated that Fregosojuarez had indicated an intent to flee the country. The victim was discovered by officers conducting a welfare check. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is collaborating with federal and Mexican law enforcement to locate the child and bring the suspect to justice.
