Eric Lyn Holliday, 58, has been charged with felony animal cruelty and drug possession in Orange County, California, for the alleged brutal killing of a pregnant Maltese dog. District Attorney Todd Spitzer described the act as "pure evil," stating there is "a special place in hell" for those who abuse animals.
The DA's office alleges Holliday tied a rope from his SUV to a parking bollard, looped it around the dog's neck, and drove until the animal's neck snapped. He then allegedly left the dog's body in an alley. Security footage from December 1, 2025, captured Holliday securing the rope and driving away after the incident.
At the time of his arrest, Holliday, who was on probation for a prior felony assault conviction, was found with methamphetamine. He faces up to 13 years in prison if convicted on all charges. The dog, believed to be 6 years old, suffered a severed spine and arteries.
