Daya Shankar Pandey presented a dead fetus in a plastic bag to the Jabalpur bench of the MP high court on Monday, March 9, 2026. He claimed the fetus was lost due to a miscarriage following a road accident on March 1, 2026, which he believes was a planned attempt on his life.
Pandey, a candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Rewa, pleaded with Justice Himanshu Joshi for security or euthanasia, alleging repeated attempts to kill him disguised as accidents and that police had refused to act on his complaints. He stated his wife suffered a miscarriage during treatment after being critically injured in the March 1 incident.
Four policemen were suspended on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in connection with the case. Pandey, who was released by police on the judge's directive, told TOI that his wife had an emergency abortion on March 7, 2026, after the miscarriage. The next hearing on his plea is scheduled for March 11, 2026.
