Authorities in Illinois have apprehended Eddie Jenkins, 45, more than five months after his estranged wife, Kiara Jenkins, 36, was found fatally shot on January 18. Investigators allege that security footage captured Eddie driving to Kiara's Chicago neighborhood and approaching her home on the morning of the incident. Neighbors reported hearing an argument between the couple followed by gunshots.
Prosecutors contend that Eddie was seen leaving the scene on security cameras. It is further alleged that he took their children to church shortly after the shooting. Friends became concerned when Kiara, who was estranged from Eddie, did not arrive at church with the rest of the family. Upon discovering Kiara deceased, friends contacted Eddie. Authorities claim that during a subsequent video call, Eddie allegedly captured a screenshot of Kiara's body.
Eddie Jenkins, who worked as a mechanic and was a deacon at a local church, has been charged with first-degree murder. His attorney has disputed the security footage, stating there is no proof Eddie was the person seen leaving the property. Eddie was ordered detained on July 1 and faces further court proceedings.
