17 Mar
Summary
- Man arrested for murder and improper disposal of remains.
- Human remains found buried in a garage floor.
- A friend's tip led police to the suspect.

Shawn Sullivan, 40, of Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, has been arrested and charged with murder and improper disposal of human remains. The arrest follows the discovery of human remains believed to be those of Jill Kloppenburg, who was reported missing in February 2025. Authorities were alerted when a friend of Sullivan's reported that Sullivan had confessed to killing a woman named Jill in January 2025, allegedly burying her body under his garage floor. Police executed a search warrant on Sullivan's property on March 15, 2026, where ground-penetrating radar indicated something buried in the garage. Human remains were subsequently recovered and confirmed by the medical examiner's office. Kloppenburg was last seen leaving her Lowell home on January 2, 2025, and her last cell phone activity was recorded on January 14, 2025. Sullivan is expected to be arraigned on March 17, 2026. The victim is currently unidentified pending DNA confirmation and an autopsy.
